Established in the year 1976, Army Welfare Project Limited is a leading alcohol producing company in Bhutan producing various segments of alcohol beverages like whiskies, rum, vodka, brandy, gin, wines and alcopops. The company has 18 brands catering towards the different needs of the customers.
Headquartered in Phuentsholing, the company has a committed team of 436 employees dedicated to fulfilling the company’s mission to “Maximize funds for welfare needs of security personnel through profitable operation and diversification of our business. The company contributes substantially through excise duties, fees and corporate income tax to the Royal Government of Bhutan.
The company has a strong distribution network and point of sale coverage through its strategically located six Bonded Warehouses and 61 Sub-distributors in Bhutan. It has 4 operating units namely:
Gelephu Distillery, based in Gelephu, produces premium products.
Samtse Distillery, based in Samtse, produces and regular products and wines.
Bhutan Centennial Distillery (BCD), based in Gelephu, produces Grain Neutral Spirits (GNS) which are marketed mainly to North East States of India and provide the raw materials for Samtse and Gelephu distilleries.
Cardboard Box Unit (CBBU), based at Samtse, produces cardboard boxes for Samtse and Gelephu distilleries. It also supplies to other clients, mainly within Bhutan.
